Gazette: Newspaper Watch Face

Ever wanted to have a little bit of the past on your wrist? Introducing Gazette: A newspaper watch face for WearOS. the day of the week is the masthead, the time is the headline, and the rest falls onto a broadsheet grid. This offers a vintage, retro watch face perfect for those who are a fan of the printed press! Inspired by the newspapers of the early 20th century.

THE MASTHEAD
The weekday runs the width of the dial in a heavy blackletter face with an oversized dropped initial - the way a paper's nameplate carries its title.

THE HEADLINE, DECK & FOLIO
The main time sits as the main feature of the paper. A deck line under it shows the full date until you assign a complication to it. The ruled line above is a working folio: volume number is the week of the year, the weather condition sits opposite, and edition marks in the middle count up through the day.

THE FORECAST
A weather box flanks the headline - today's high and low on the left, the temperature now and chance of rain on the right - pulled live from Wear OS, and simply absent when there is no weather.

THE COLUMNS
Three ruled columns along the bottom hold complications - steps, battery, heart rate, a timer, whatever you set. A column takes its heading from the complication's own label when it has one.

COLOURWAYS
Eight kinds of newspaper stock: Broadsheet cream, Tabloid white, Financial pink, Sporting green, Archive sepia, Dispatch grey, Bulldog buff and Night - warm off-white ink on true black, kind to AMOLED. A second toggle runs the rules inset or out to the bezel.

ALWAYS-ON
The layout holds - masthead, folio, headline, date, column values - while the texture, column headings and forecast drop away to keep the lit area low.

A newspaper watch face for anyone who wants a digital face built on editorial typography and vintage broadsheet print instead of another gradient - minimal, legible, and a headline you can actually read.

HOW TO APPLY
Install from your phone. On the watch, press and hold the face, swipe to this one and tap. To change the colourway or rule style, tap the face and choose Customise. Tap a column, or the deck line under the time, to set a complication.

COMPATIBILITY
Wear OS 4 or later with Watch Face Format.

PRIVACY
No permissions. Collects, stores or transmits nothing. Reads the time, the date, and - only to show them - the weather and complications from apps already on your watch.
